How would you describe the band if you were a pressman or an
editor? |
The Nightcrawlers are a big 10 piece rockin blues band great for dancing. "Walk On By" and "January Man" are solo projects from Gary (Dr Fun) with a group of different players (exelent players)from around my hood. They are all original songs and it's all done in local home studios.
|
Why did you choose your name? |
A sign at a gas station in the States advertizing Canadian nightcrawlers (We've been known to crawl some nights) and the Dr Fun came from a day gig I had at an old folks home as an activity director. The residents started calling me that because I was the one who did all the fun stuff with them.
|
What type of music do you play? |
The Nightcrawlers cd is rockin blues with a little jazzy flavor here and there as well as some swing - all good stuff for a party. "January Man" covers lots of different styles. It has social and political import. It's loaded with powerful lyrics that come straight from the heart with no fluff. It will take you on a musical journey.
|
How long have you been together? |
The Nightcrawlers have been together for 20 years, some people think of us as the Rolling Stones of the Kootenay's (hard core I guess) we'll never die. The players who I recorded "Walk On By" and "January Man" with were some local friends who I got together with. It was the first time I had worked with some of them.
|
What have you released to date? |
We've got 2 cds with the Nighcrawlers and this is my second solo effort.
|
When are you planning your next release? |
The Nightcrawlers are currently working on some live tracks that were recorded at the Silverton Winter Boogie but to be honest, because of the logistics it's been like pushing a tractor uphill so I have no idea when it will be completed.
|
What is your favorite song to perform and Why? |
My favorites are always changing - of course you allways try to play these songs like it's the first time but personally I like singing the original songs best
|
Who are the best bands you preformed with? |
5440,Elvin Bishop, Roy Rogers, Joe Lewis Walker, Mumbo Jumbo, Colin James, Guarneri Underground, Little Bill & The Blue Notes, Randy Bachman, Nazareth.....We've played with lots of great bands through the years - We're to the point we can pick and choose where and when we play and we often end up playing at events with well known bands.
|
Where are you planning for your next shows? |
We're planning on a big show in Nakusp BC on July 17th There are lots of great bands check their web site Nakuspmusicfestival.com
|
Any last words? |
Thanks for tuning into this web site and I hope we see you at some of our live gigs. It's music that makes the world go round and no matter how messed up things get, we've got to keep on rockin
Peace and Love, Dr. Fun
