| Hot rod drivin', chese burger eatin', dance til you drop, grade A american rock 'n' roll. A four on the floor, jet fuled trio singin' songs about dames, cars, drinkin' and more dames. Guitar slinger Migule Valdez will energize even the smallest of crowds with his rockin' riffs and sideshow antics. With a crash, boom, bang; Donovan Coffey will leave you breathless with his thunderous sound and wolf calls. Slappin' the bejeezes outta be upright is Mark Scharf, leavin' you with the feelin' an overstoked locomotive just can through town. |

* ATOMIC KINGS interview by Musician MP3 content managment.
|
How would you describe the band if you were a pressman or an
editor? |
Atomic Kings are a high energy rockabilly trio. From a time that has been long forgoten and a style that most would discribe as old and out of date, Atomic Kings puts their stamp of approval on what today is referred to as Rockabilly music. With a fan base that keeps growin' every year rockabilly music is sure to be around for a very long time.
|
Why did you choose your name? |
Atomic Kings was a name that a really good friend of ours was thinking of calling his band back around 1999. It stuck with me then and when I started my own band in 2004 it was still with me, so we went with it.
|
What type of music do you play? |
Americana, roots rock, swing, jump blues, rockabilly, call it what you want to, it's all the same to us. Good ole, american, pure grade A, Rock 'N' Roll. With the feel of Elvis, The Stray Cats, Buddy Holly, The Paladins, The Belmont Playboys, Link Wray, and many more.
|
How long have you been together? |
Atomic Kings formed in the year 2000 and has gone through several musicians. The original line up was myself, Mark on bass, Rob on guitar/vocals and Dennis on skins. In 2003 Dennis and Rob took up a new project. So I picked up Miguel on guitar, Greg on skins and I stayed on bass/voclas. In 2005 we saw another change where Greg moved on and we then picked up Donovan on skins and the current line up is Mark doghouse/vocals, Miguel guitar/shoutbacks and Donovan skins/shoutbacks.
|
What have you released to date? |
In 2005 Atomic Kings release "Runnin' from the Devil", a full lenght CD, recorded at the Legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, TN. Sort of a Debut/Tribute album to some of our favorite bands. With 11 covers and 2 originals.
In 2006 Atomic Kings released their Single/EP "Rockabilly Pure and Simply Dangerous. With an all new song "Haunted Highway 4" and a revisited "Steppin' out on Me" from the debut album.
|
When are you planning your next release? |
The full length album "Hail to the King" is scheduled for Spring 2007, a return to our roots of rockabilly if you will. Featurin' 13 all new songs. This album was more than 6 years in the makin'. All the stuff I had been workin' on sence 2000 finally came together. The sound was simple and clean.
|
What is your favorite song to perform and Why? |
It happens to be a cover tune by the Belmont Playboys called Hotrod Heart. It's jsut gets you up and moving. Any song about a gal that's real gone and drives fast has got to have it all.
|
Who are the best bands you preformed with? |
Atomic Kings has joined the stage with some really cool acts, I'm not really sure who the best would be, but we have played with The Square Bailers, Rufus Buck, The Crumbs, Power Glide 235, The Domino Kings, just to name a few and all are top shelf musicians.
|
Where are you planning for your next shows? |
This summer we would like to be out and about up in Kansas and Oklahoma down in Texas and Mississippi, out in Nevada and California. We have alot in the works so you all will just have to look for us.
|
Any last words? |
Rock 'n' Roll is an addiction man. The sound of a hopped up crowd screamin' and yellin'. It's what it's all about. The fans, always remember teh fans.
